Woodland wreath

woodland-wreath-lisa-fulmer

One of the projects I really love from my book, Stylish Craft Foam Projects is this woodland wreath. Oh who am I kidding, all the projects are my favorites, lol. But what I like about this one is how it looks nice during any season, not just fall and winter.

The complete instructions with helpful tips are in my book, but here’s the gist of it…yarn-wrap a larger Smoothfoam wreath, then paint a smaller one to nest inside and secure it with glue. Cover the smaller wreath with paper die-cut leaves, using straight pins. Cover a Smoothfoam egg with overlapping punched paper circles to create the pinecone and poke it into the wreath. Add a ribbon hanger and done! Try different color combinations to create the woodland of your own imagination.

DIY Bulletin Boards

DIY bulletin boards don’t have to be made with cork – have you ever tried Smoothfoam sheets, discs and blocks? The smooth, dense and lightweight surface is not only fun to paint and embellish, it also holds straight pins snugly. If you need a small bulletin board to post a few reminders and photos, these cute designer projects are for you! Put one in your school locker, at your desk, on the cupboard door or even inside the closet.

Photo cube ornament

smoothfoam-cube-ornament

This photo cube ornament is quick and easy to make with your favorite papers, punches and embellishments. I started with a 3″ Smoothfoam cube and 3″ squares of scrapbook paper. You can drill a hole through the center of the cube with a hot wire tool or just use a large wood skewer. Push it carefully through the cube from top to bottom, pull it out and push it through a few more times all around the original hole to make it a bit larger. Be prepared to wipe up some foam crumbs.

You can adhere the paper to each side of the cube with tacky glue or a gluestick, but I just used pearl-head straight pins in the corners. Push them in at an angle toward the center of the cube. Cut slits or punch a small hole in the center of the papers you choose for the top and bottom. Punch out shapes from cardstock for framing small photos and embellish however you like. Fold long pieces of ribbon in half and push the folded end (loop) through the hole with the skewer from the bottom up to the top. Tie off the ribbons with knots or bows at the top and bottom to secure in place for hanging.
